What is a pumping station and what is it for?
It is a prefabricated station that collects wastewater or rainwater and lifts (pumps) it to the sewer network or the treatment plant when gravity does not allow natural drainage. It is essential in basements, garages, industries and homes located below the sewer level.
How does a pumping station work?
The water accumulates in the well; when it reaches the programmed level, the floats start the pump, which lifts the water to the discharge level. When the level drops, the pump stops. The control panel automates and protects the process, and in major installations two pumps with alternation are used for greater safety.
Which pump do I need, submersible or surface?
The submersible pump (AquaPUMP SUMERGIDA) goes inside the well and is the one for a sump/lifting station (residual or dirty water). The surface pump (AquaPUMP GP) is installed outside and is used for pressure units, clean water and rainwater reuse. We advise you according to the flow rate, the head and the type of water.
What material and size are they?
The well is made of glass-fibre reinforced polyester (GRP), with manholes and a PP cover Ø 620 mm and PVC connections. It is custom-sized according to the flow rate, the inlet depth and the pumping head; a reinforced structure is available for demanding ground.
Why is the price “on request”?
Pumping stations are custom equipment: the price depends on the pump (power and type), the number of pumps, the size of the well, the electrical panel and the accessories. Tell us your case and we will prepare a tailored quote.
What maintenance does it require?
Periodic checks of the pumps, the floats and the electrical panel, and cleaning of the well to prevent build-up. The lowering kit and the extraction chains make it easy to service the pumps without emptying the well.
How do I request a quote?

How pumping stations work
The pumping station collects the water in a watertight well and lifts it to the discharge level by means of one or more pumps controlled by level floats:
- Accumulation: the wastewater or rainwater arrives by gravity and is stored in the well.
- Automatic start: when the programmed level is reached, the floats start the pump.
- Lifting: the pump raises the water through the rising main to the sewer network, the treatment plant or the discharge point.
- Stop and protection: when the level drops, the pump stops; the control panel automates the cycle and protects the equipment. In major installations two pumps with alternation are used for greater safety.
